Last Day in Nitte

Tonight is our last night in Nitte and we're spending it with family at home. It's raining again, big surprise, since it's monsoon season now at Nitte. Dhruv has been enjoying the rain all day. He enjoys dancing in the rain. Shrima (our cousin) has joined us today as well as Great Grandma Shetty. She keeps asking Dhruv if he could stay and live with her. The school is located directly across the street from her house.

Dhruv was finally able to milk the cow, without any crisis this time. He didn't really like it though. He described it as, "being smushy" and "yucky". After that we pet another cow like a dog and he loved it! Then we visited a cousin a few houses down who has chickens and a rooster and Dhruv fed them.

Yesterday, a major catastrophe, for some. For others it was shear entertainment! Ajja (Dharmaraj) was holding Ajay and he realized he was feeling a little warm and then wet. Ajay has officially christened him into the family as well as Nemiraj Uncle. Ajay was a party "pooper". It was really funny (for some!) We were on our way to lunch and we had to purchase new clothes.

The high point to my whole trip, other than getting Ajay, Vickrum took me to the jewelry store yesterday! They are making me a ring.

Today, Vickrum is feeling sick. He has the Nitte flu and has been laying around all day. Poor Daddy! Hopefully he'll be better tomorrow. We are looking forward to be moving on to Delhi and air conditioning again! It's so hot and muggy here today and the electricity keeps going out and we lose the only thing that keeps us cool.

Talk to you all soon, the trip is quickly coming to an end, we're looking forward to coming home!

Love All

Wow, Dhruv is really having many experiences! It sounds as if he is having a great time. He is up on Grammy as I have never milked a cow. I've fed chickens and other animals but have not milked a cow. How exciting that you went to the jewelry store and are getting a new ring! What a great husband! I am sorry that now he is not feeling well. Ajay is making everyone feel right at home by welcoming them with his warmth. Sorry, guys. Enjoy the rest of the trip and we can't wait to see you all. Love, Mom

Maureen, it's great that you are having the opportunity to meet all the relatives that you haven't met before. Savor the experiences and the trip. I can't wait to see Ajay and the pictures that we will see of India. Of course, I can't wait to see number 1 grandson, Dhruv. Love to all, X O Dad

OK..sorry I haven't written until now, but better late than never...this may become a book. First I wanted to let you know that I miss you guys and can't wait to meet Ajay. Second, I hope you remembered that I collect shot glasses from Hard Rock and got me one from Bangalore (sorry that was a little selfish!). Third, I have printed your blog and am going to send them to Brian so he can read through them. I'm sure he will appreciate the stories and pictures.

India looks really cool. I hope that Moe and Dhruv are taking in as much of the culture as they can since you never know when you are going to be half way across the world again. It is always neat to go to foreign countries and really submerge yourself in their day to day life.

Ajay looks so happy. I am so glad you can finally hold him and call him your own. He is beau-tee-ful. I just know he will fit in perfectly. Congrats again on the newest member of the Shetty clan. Don't let Dhruv spoil him too much!

Well, have a safe trip home, keep blogging, and don't forget to take lots of pictures for your scrapbook! Miss you all!

Hello all,

Yes, always mixed feelings as a long anticipated trip comes to a close. Enjoy your last days. Probably time to start planning your return a decade from now?

I am glad Dhruv was able to milk the cow, if he wanted to, but better him then me.

Weather has cooled considerable here, so gardening is on the agenda.

Love to all,
Aunt Susan and Ryan
